This is the reason why I decided to dedicate the Sunburnt Series to some of Australia’s most beautiful native flowers.
And because Nature is not only pretty but also can be mind blowing, here are a few fun facts about them:
>
Also known as spider flower, the natural habitat of the Grevillea flower is in northern New South Wales and southern Queensland (Australia). It was traditionally used for food or drink by the Aboriginal People due to its sweet nectar.

More than a flower, the Waratah is the official floral emblem of the state of New South Wales (Australia). Its name actually comes from Aboriginal People and means red flowering tree (no wonder!).
>
>
This world-known plant is native to Tasmania (Australia). On top of its pretty shape and color, Eucalyptus leaves have many impressive medicinal properties!
>
>
There are 173 Banksia species with 172 of these only occurring in Australia. Banksia is also known as Honeysuckle due to the large volume of nectar it produces (birds’s favorite snack!).
>
is an Australian native flower that grows naturally in the southwest of Western Australia. This funny name comes from its flowers which are furry and shaped just like a kangaroo paw. Cute!
>
It is endemic to Queensland (Australia). As its sour name suggests, this yellow flower can be used in a large variety of food and even replace lemon flavor in cakes, ice creams and tutti quanti. Yummy!
